The Skilled Trades Foreperson is responsible for overseeing all areas of one or more of the following skilled trade(s); Electrical, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), Plumbing or Mechanical. This position requires a minimum of a Journeyman electrical License. With a Masters License a plus. This position will require the ability to climb and work from different ladder heights.
Ability to bend, stoop, and carry a maximum of 50 pounds. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy

Job Duties
Participate in the day to day maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of building automation systems (environmental controls). Supervises all areas of one or more of the skilled trades by evaluating overall work performance of subordinates. Receives work orders and determines priority of services, repairs, installation, and/or construction by prioritizing requested assignments and establishing deadlines. Prioritizes work assignments, establishes deadlines, and evaluates work performance to ensure adherence to standard trade practices. Examines facilities to determine needed services, such as repairs, installations, and/or construction. Maintains records of projects by tracking materials needed and used, equipment, tools, and labor requirements. Requisitions materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment and replacement parts. Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawings for one or more of the skilled trades. May coordinate and schedule work assignments with one or more of the skilled trades in order to complete services, repairs, installations, and/or construction. May participate in the preparation and monitoring of the budget for one or more of the skilled trades by compiling and submitting projections; monitors expenditures through a review and approval of requisitions and financial reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills
The preferred candidate will be a Journeyman Electrician who possesses the ability to understand and troubleshoot building automation, HVAC and hydronic systems.
Should be an enthusiastic team player and detail oriented individual who is willing and able to handle various tasks and assignments. Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and safety precautions in one or more of the skilled trades. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and codes relating to one or more of the skilled trades. Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and techniques. Knowledge of the state budgetary process. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawings. Ability to supervise skilled trades workers and/or supervisors. Ability to plan and coordinate all phases of service, repairs, installation, and/or construction projects in one or more of the skilled trades.

Required Education/Experience
Completion of required education or training along with the required license or certification in the following skilled trades: Journeyman Electrician according to ACA 17-28-304, Journeyman Plumber according to ACA 17-38-301, and HVACMechanics according to ACA 17-33-301; plus two years of experience, including one year in a leadership capacity. Occupying the position of a carpenter or painter requires the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus seven years of experience, including one year in a leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
